Sydney Harbour alone is home to Dory, Kingfish and Salmon amongst others. Less popular fishing areas of Sydney include Middle Harbour, Pittwater, and some of the northern beaches. Local companies run fishing outings on daily and longer term arrangements. These companies will handle the legal aspects of fishing in Sydney.
Fishing in New South Wales (NSW) waters requires a licence. Licences can be purchased from NSW Fisheries at monthly, annual or tri-annual rates. In addition to licences, fish caught in NSW waters are subject to size restrictions. There are both bag limits and legal sizes for individual species of fish. The New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (Fishing & Aquaculture) updates details of these restrictions on a continually regular basis.
