Many of Sydney’s coastline suburbs have dedicated PADI dive schools for obtaining training or organising dives. Many schools can also organise night dives.
A unique dive area is Clovelly & Gordons Bay approximately eight kilometres out of Sydney’s CBD. Diving in the rocky channels of Clovelly can lead to encounters with blue groper, bream, snapper and giant cuttlefish. Night diving in Clovelly Pool is also possible. Gordons Bay has a 500 metre Underwater Nature Trail taking in rocky reefs, sand flats and kelp forests.
Anyone wishing to undertake a PADI course will need to pass a dive medical before commencing training. This is in accordance with Australian Standard AS4005-1 which prevents anyone with certain medical conditions from being able to take the course.
