Surry Hills is south east of the CBD surrounded by the suburbs of Darlinghurst
to the north, Chippendale and Haymarket to the west, Paddington
to the east and Redfern to the south. In the early days of Sydney, Surry Hills was a leafy area full of large mansions.
It later declined drastically, but has now been transformed into a dynamic inner-city suburb with art galleries, restaurants
, pubs and coffee shops.
Crown Street is the centre of Surry Hills where many of the cafes, restaurants and shops are found. The Surry Hills Markets are held in Shannon Reserve at the corner of Crown and Collins Streets on the first Saturday of every month.
