Royal National Park was established in 1879, making it the oldest national park in Australia and the second oldest in the world. It lies only 32 kilometres south of Sydney. This enormous park offers great natural diversity with rivers, surf beaches
, a spectacular coastal walk plus many inland walks
tracks. The coastal walk is 26 kilometres long, and takes a steady to days of walking with some difficult sections included.
There is a youth hostel at Garie, about two-thirds of the way along the track from north to south, which is a great spot to break up the trek if you decide to tackle it. Address: Farnell Avenue, Audley, NSW, 2232.
