Paddy's Market

Sydney sightseeing

There has been a Paddy's Market associated with the Haymarket area for 150 years. Some people argue that Paddy's Market goes back even, because a "fringe market"is known to have operated alongside Sydney's produce market from the very early days of white settlement.

Paddy's Market

This earliest market dealt in second-hand goods and clothes, novelties, toys and pets.Either way, Paddy's Market is still Australia's first authentic market. Today it offers products from fresh fruit and vegetables to clothing, CDs and DVDs, flowers, home wares, sunglasses and jewellery. It is also one of Sydney's major suppliers of souvenirs and Australiana.

Paddy's is now located in two locations, one at the original spot in Haymarket, and a second newer and larger location in a Flemington underground car park which hosts the Paddy's Swap and Sell Markets.

Paddy's Market caters to much of Sydney's local population, as well as to the thousands of interstate and overseas visitors each year. You can pretty much buy anything from Paddy's, including the kitchen sink! Addresses: Market City,Ground Level, 9-13 Hay Street, Haymarket, NSW, 2000; and Building D, Sydney Markets, 250-318 Parramatta Road, NSW, 2129.
