Paddington is a busy inner-city area with bars and fashion outlets built around Oxford Street.Locally known as Paddo, Paddington has a vibrant gay and lesbian community along with its neighbouring Darlinghurst. It showcases a many beautiful Victorian terraces with cast iron detailing, as well as formally established artwork in its many galleries. The major gallery precinct is on Oxford Street and Glenmore Road, William Street and Five Ways. Paddington Town Hall was built in the 1800s with a clock tower 32 metres high is a major landmark for Paddington. Another highlight of this suburb is the busy Paddington markets which are held every weekend in the grounds of the Paddington Uniting Church on Oxford Street.
Paddington is the place to go for sports enthusiasts, as its Moore Park is home to the Sydney Cricket Ground and Sydney Football Stadium. Tours
are available of the Sydney Football Stadium and there is a museum at the Sydney Cricket Ground Museum. The Football Stadium is the home of the Sydney Roosters, NSW Waratahs and Sydney FC.
