Lane Cove National Park follows a large portion of the Lane Cove River to the north west of the city centre, extending from the suburbs East Ryde to Wahroonga and Pennant Hills. Less than ten kilometres from the city centre, the park is a peaceful bushland area home to native wildlife and flora. Enjoy the river through easily accessible walks, picnic spots and even rowing. Northern areas of the park offer good bike riding and bush walking along fire trails.
Swimming in the river is not advisable due to snags and cold deep water patches. Swimming is especially inadvisable after rain, as the water quality diminishes noticeably. There is a small fee to access the park and many car parking areas. There are overnight cabins available for short stays along with powered and non-powered camp sites. Bookings can be made through the Lane Cover River Tourist Park office. Address: Macquarie Park, NSW, 2113.
