Cricket Sydney

Sydney sightseeing

Cricket makes up one of the popular sports in Australia, and is played widely around Sydney. Sport is an integral part of Australian culture, and as young people grow up in this country, it is common for them to be involved in one or many sports. Cricket is played by many for fun and fitness, and it is easy to join in one of the local clubs, and if you are a cricket fan and visiting Sydney, you’ll easily be able to purchase tickets to watch one of the more premium matches.

A major landmark in Sydney, is the Sydney Cricket Ground, which is also known as the SCG. This major sporting complex is used for various local and international cricket matches, and also for various codes of football. The Sydney Cricket Ground is located at Moore Park in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and is surrounded by other major attractions, including Centennial Park and The Entertainment Quarter which is a multi-purpose entertainment district, including cinemas, retail shops and venues to eat and drink. Quite often, these places are popular among patrons who are looking to extend their sporting experience at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and catch up with friends or family before or after the game.

Cricket is a summer sport in Sydney, and if you are either joining in a game yourself or going to watch one, be prepared to take sunscreen and protective clothing as the days can be hot and you will most likely be spending it outdoors in the sun. Many locals enjoy a casual game of cricket on the beach, in a park, or in their own backyards, and this is usually teamed with a picnic, BBQ and lots of food and drink.
