Bronte is an eastern suburb known for its beach, which lies 8km from the CBD, close to Bondi
. Bronte Beach sits on Nelson Bay, surrounded by Bronte Park. It has a walking path running south to Coogee via the Waverley Cemetery, and another going north to Tamarama and Bondi Beach. This cliff path offers wonderful and extensive views.
Bronte also has an important surfing
culture and a very well established surf lifesaving club which was founded in 1903. An annual long distance ocean swimming
event is held in December each year between Bondi Beach and Bronte. Bronte Road which runs along the park has numerous restaurants to enjoy after swimming, walking or surfing.
