Hyde Park

Sydney sightseeing

Hyde Park is the CBD's central garden and a much loved city feature. Although it is surpassed in size and diversity by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Hyde Park's location makes it a haven for office workers who are desperate to escape the indoors and find a shady spot for lazing on the grass.

Hyde Park

Located between Elizabeth and College Streets, Hyde Park's elegance and natural beauty dominates the area. Its main features are the enormous, centuries-old fig trees, as well as the Anzac Memorial, the Archibald Foundation and, just across the road, St Mary's Cathedral.

During the week, especially around lunchtime, you'll struggle to find a patch of vacant grass, as it's a favourite spot for local office workers. At nights, especially in summer, Hyde Park transforms with nightlife including markets, outdoor performances and art exhibitions displayed amongst the trees. Address:Elizabeth Street , Sydney CBD, NSW, 2000.
