Chinamans Beach is located next to Balmoral Beach in Middle Harbour, on Sydney's North Shore. It is one of the rare beaches in Sydney that is beautiful, boasts amazing harbour views and is great for families - yet most of the visitors there are locals. Very few tourists to Sydney know about this beach, and because of that you can enjoy a quiet and intimate atmosphere.
There are also no waves, which makes the beach perfect for families with young children, or people who simply want a paddle in calm waters. During the week, you will generally have the beach to yourself, but if you venture there on weekends, don't expect to find a car space as more people will arrive to enjoy the water, sand and sun.
Chinamans Beach is located in one of Sydney's most affluent suburbs. The Mosman area is filled with old houses, old trees and an expensive selection of real estate. It is much quieter than the eastern suburbs of Sydney and many of the locals have been born and raised in the area. The facilities are excellent and the streets and public areas are clean and well-kept.
Chinamans Beach is attached to Rosherville Reserve, which is great for a family picnic. Just remember that many other large family groups will have exactly the same idea. A children's playground is located in the reserve, and you can also find public toilets, showers, fresh water and other facilities to help support a perfect family day at the beach. You can also stroll around the rock areas to Balmoral Beach, or join one of the many walks that follow the sides of Sydney Harbour. On a warm summer's evening, the water will still be perfect, take fish and chips, or your own picnic and enjoy some of the most impressive sites of Sydney.
