Balmoral Beach is a small and charismatic location on Sydney's North Shore. You can reach this beach by catching a bus along the main road towards Manly (Spit Road as is passed through Mosman), and then walking down the very steep hill of Awaba Street through residential areas. Buses to the beach itself do not operate very often. You can also drive, but on busy days such as weekends and public holidays, don't expect to find an easy park.
The centrepiece of the beach is the Bathers' Pavilion, an historic building that is now owned by Mosman City Council. It is situated right on the water, and has been renovated to include a stylish and high-class restaurant. This restaurant is a complete contrast to other beach-side dining outlets that mainly serve cheap fish and chips, sausage rolls and lolly frogs; it is for beach lovers with high expectations for food, service and décor. The view is priceless, and even if you have to travel from other areas of Sydney, a day trip to Balmoral Beach will be worth the effort and time spent in traffic. Address: access from The Esplanade, Mosman, NSW, 2088.
